Motor Analysis

Electromagnetic finite element analysis for a company that invented a novel 17-phase induction motor. Most of the motor design was done by the inventor in SPEED software, but it was not built to simulate motors like this, so sanity checks were required in FEA. The software used was Infolytica MagNet.

The first video below shows the first few milliseconds of startup for the motor. The colors represent current density, and you can also see the magnetic field lines form, begin to pull the rotor around, and straighten out as it approaches steady-state rotation.  The second video shows the magnetic field density for the same transient startup period.
